Dane Chadwick Brings Cool Intentions

One of the standout electronic labels from Brooklyn, or New York for that matter, Astro Nautico, officially has a foot in door of 2013 with the release of the full LP Cool Intentions from Dane Chadwick. You may recognize the name from Atlantics Vol. 2, released last April, as he held a spot on the label compilation with his track “Quicken”. Anyway, as a former dummer himself, Chadwick’s foundation for his debut album lies most of the time in footworky drum rhythms. But getting caught up on the primarily Chicago cues is impossible, as the producer seamlessly layers on multiple patches of synthesizer in almost every song, which combine with insistent kicks and dampening drums that forces the listener to guessingly determine the tempo and vibe. Of course the album can be free of charge, so you’ll have time to decipher this sonic complexity. Awesome things here, for real.
