Benedek – “Wavrunner”
L.A. funkster Benedek is one of the modern music bringers attempting to reincarnate a landscape for funk music, which seems like a somewhat disregarded genre that not many people coddle with nowadays. Maybe it’s that the sound pertains to a certain geography, because Benedek’s latest track “Wavrunner”, from the outside, gets its energy from the imagining of a West Coast dusk, with sunburned beaches, swaying palm trees and bikini-wearing women necessarily included in the vision. The track is laden with synth that is stifling (in the best of ways), but it’s percussive enough, with an industrial sounding clap, to opt the listener for movement instead of head thoughts.
