Elaquent – ‘Believing’

You can try, but you most likely won’t escape the emissions of Huh What & Where if you’re even just a little bit of a beat head. The latest to be showcased on the LA label is Elaquent and his album ‘Believing’: a 13-track project that boasts soul-oriented hip-hop beats—“instrumentals” as you probably imagine them to be and that you would expect from a Canadian producer with musical ties to the West Coast, yet the album sheds light on the uniqueness that Elaquent possesses. Apparently the album’s acted as a journal for the producer over the last year or so, and it sounds like so given the different toned beats that result in a mood-traversing album with a lot of depth. The majority of the tracks are down tempo, giving you ample space and time to notice Elaquent’s organic injections and attention to detail. Stream the lovely “Whatever She Wants” below and cop the entire album digitally or on vinyl here.
